Electrical energy demand is continuously increasing particularly in south Algeria. To satisfy this demand interest in renewable energy particularly, photovoltaic technology is the first option of choice. This is due to the fact that these regions are rich in solar resource. This article describes typical implementation of solar photovoltaic system to generate electricity in a semi-arid region of Ghardaia. To be more specific this contribution gives an insight on photovoltaic system design and optimization having a total power Crete in the order of 267kWc. Optimization and performance index assessment of such system are outlined and sufficiently detailed and discussed.
