Precipitation plays a major role in dry-land irrigation. This paper expounded present research process and prospected of efficient utilization of rainfall from four aspects such as regulating the physiology of crops, improving the soil environment, initiative control of natural rainfall and changing the farming form. After induction, the methods of improving the utilization efficiency of precipitation should be based on the transformation of precipitation in specific utilization process. Existing technical measures of highly efficient utilization of rainfall should be combined with modern biological, field water conservancy, agriculture, new materials, information, chemical industry and other multi-disciplinary technologies to improve the soil environment and cultivation measures, then explore more conducive methods for efficient utilization of precipitation in arid region.
