Women in dry, semi-arid regions of Telangana are stressed owing to poor farm yields and sparse, intermittent and unpredictable rains. The man folk are compelled to move to nearby towns in search of employment. The total family income as a result of these constraints is pathetic and families are stressed unduly. The Rural Women Technology Park (RWTP) has been conceptualized and is being implemented in rural Telangana as a means of introducing technological interventions.

A Technology Park promoting technologies commensurate to this region like; Low Volume High Value (LVHV) crops and Value Added Products (VAP) has been introduced in Shmashabad Mandal (Rangareddy district) of Telangana State(TS). This work describes the initiatives and initial responses of the beneficiaries (rural women).
