Despite of the geocell application in several areas of geotechnical engineering, such as a retaining wall, slope protection against erosion and channel lining, this geosynthetic was initially designed to improve soil bearing capacity to allow heavy vehicles traffic on the desert sand for the Golf War. As reinforcement, geocell satisfactorily increases the bearing capacity of the soil, enabling its use. In this regard, this paper presents a comparison and evaluation of bearing capacity calculation methods for soil reinforced with a geocell using the results of laboratory experiments by several authors, analyzing its accuracy and applica-bility and pointing out the advantages and limitations of each model. The results show that the calculated bearing capacity obtained by Avesani Neto (2013) method showed a better fit to the experimental results than other methods.
