Traditional regions in China have distinct architecture characteristics, which have been facing or is about to face significant changes in urbanization process. On the basis of theoretical research, this article highlights the combination of regional architectural culture and urbanization practices and emphasizes the integration of traditional architecture features and modern construction techniques. By analyzing the causes and performance of regional architectural features, and investigating its survival advantages in special natural environmental and resource context, this article explored complex patterns of residential buildings in the southern of Maowusu Desert with modern life adaptation, and on the basis of inheriting, some of the design principles for regional architecture in the context of urbanization are proposed.
