英文摘要	Land degradation and desertification prevention is an emerging problem for the African continent. The methodology of desertification satellite monitoring, mapping and change detection is applied to test sites in the two Maghreb countries, namely Morocco and Mauritania. The changes in vegetation cover and soil erosion are used as desertification drivers. The socio-economic benefits of desertification prevention in Morocco and Mauritania are considered.
