In order to develop the new environment-friendly synthetic leaves, the concept of synthetic leaves based on microcapillary plastic film (MCF) is proposed according to the existing MCF process. The manufacturing scheme of multi-scale synthetic leaves based on MCF is designed below: (1) development of new dynamic MCF extrusion technology, (2) manufacturing of synthetic leaves with controlled dynamic microcapillary and multi-scale microstructure using the supercritical fluid foaming and the excimer laser drilling technology, (3) functional bionic of the leaf transpiration. The feasibility of the above-mentioned scheme is proved with the carried-out experiments. The successful development of the MCF synthetic leaves will not only provide a new way to solve the desertification problem, but also to promote advancement of many fields such as micro-structure plastic processing, plant physiology ecology, bionics and micro fluidic system.
