Gravel piles were applied in composite foundation of saline soils and did field experiment in Chaerhan, in order to improve composite foundation capacity of railway saline soils where locates in cold, arid and salt lake regions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The strength and working mechanism of pile-soil and deformation modulus of the composite foundation are analyzed after reinforcement. It provides method for determining the coefficient about the capacity and deformation modulus of composite foundation with gravel piles. The result showed its calculated values are closed to experimental values and the method is reasonable. Reinforcement case of gravel piles had good reinforcement effects and reduced the settlement of the natural saline soil foundation in saline soils of Chaerhan region.
