Application of GIS in Distributed Hydrological Model-A case from Lanhe watershed of shanxi province,China

Based on GIS technique and DEM of Lanhe watershed, Shanxi province, China, basin water system was drawn and sub-units were compartmentalized. Geographical data such as land use. soil classification. hydrology and meteorology were taken into account and test the application of SCS (Soil Conservation Service) model in middle scale watershed distributed hydrology simulation. In each sub-unit, SCS lay runoff model was applied to calculate net rain, SCS zero dimension unit graph was applied to calculate slope surface conflux, subsection Muskingum method was applied to calculate river conflux,rain runoff relationship was modeled according to 20 historical flood data. The results show that: the hydrograph of computing runoff process coincide very well with observed runoff process in height as well as shape, and lay runoff effective modeling data comes to 70 percent and conflux comes to 80 percent, which explains that the distributed hydrology model based on GIS is a scientific and precision model and can be widely applied to middle scale basin water flood forecast and water resources management on arid and semiarid weather condition.
