The theme that will be considered in this paper derives from the cultural debates in many areas of the South Italy because it is necessary and urgent to establish new protected areas. The context of the analysis is expanded compared to the issues of the parks' planning, structured on a preliminary economic analysis about the nature's protection that without the financial support and activism of the involved people risk to transform parks into natural containers not in line with the current standards and with the way to manage the protected areas. The data source help to delineate the state of the Calabria parks' system focusing on their economical impact, analyzing the national parks' economy in the depressed areas of southern Italy. The contribution deepens the planning for the parks' types that are not only untouchable and isolated oases, but they are considered entities which can, themselves, become part of integrated processes aimed at the development. The demographic dispersion, the level of employment, the average income of the population, the inventory of accommodation facilities systems, lead to the fact that a park in Calabria, it would become a catalyst for latent regressive processes in the area. But, what is the impact of the parks' creation in the social and economic areas on which it stands? An analysis of the relationship between the population index, the average income of the population and the parks' number in Calabria helps to understand the relationship between the factors mentioned with the aim to assess if there is a relationship of cause and effect between these variables and what is the direction of the causality.
