Gully is formed when land is dramatically degenerated in Arid Hot Valley. In the Yuan Mou and hot valley of Jin Sha River, the speed of headward erosion is 50 cm/a to developmental gully, and the maximum speed reaches 200 cm/a. The gully density is 3-5 km/hm(2), the maximum density reaches 7.4 km/hm(2). The gully formation mainly attributes to the landform characteristics, the quality of geological stratification, the climate characteristics, and the surface structure of soil and the factor of anthropic activity in this region. The biological controlling is quite difficult, the species choice is difficult on the one hand, and the technology of comprehensive controlling is not consummate on the other hand. In view of these characteristics, this experimental project has conducted the massive research and obtained the effective way of gully controlling. After 12 years, the fact has proved that (1) Leucaena leucocephala is first choice species of gully controlling, as a result of its own reproduction ability, causes the system to form the biology community of arbor, shrub, grass level, which is advantageous to use light energy and to conservation water and soil; (2) After controlling, the systems root soil level is good, which can fix and conserve soil, resist washout and reduce corrosion speed of gully; (3) The benefits of ecology, society, economy are remarkable, its economic value converts into21.21thousand Yuan/km(2) center dot a.
