英文摘要 | Apricot or its wild forms are fairly drought resistant, salt tolerant and resistant to pests and diseases compared to other fruit plants. Most of the prevalent local selections are of seedling origin. Among the cultivated indigenous and exotic cultivars grown in the region are Suffaida, Shakarpara, Suffaida Parachinar, Charmagz, Kaisha, Australian, Afgani, Nari, Rakchey-Karpo, Tok-Popa and Halman. Cultivars like Halman and Shakarpara have highest TSS and hence possess excellent drying quality while Suffaida, Charmagz, Australian and Rakchey-Karpo are most popular table purpose cultivars. Gummosis, occurrence of snowfall at full bloom, codling moth (particularly in Laddakh region) and lack of availability of grafted nursery plants of suitable varieties are major constraints of apricot growing in the region. |
