英文摘要 | The author demonstrated that the new biological waste treatment method called "Kaminzugverfahren - Tehran Model" which is a technically simple process in terms of machines and equipments, with regard to leachate pollution is comparable to thermal treatment methods. About 85% of the world population lives in underdeveloped countries with low per capital income and most of them are located in and areas with insufficient and unstable water supplies. Leachate from the existing dumping sites, which were constructed without any safety regulations in these countries, threatens the urgently needed water reservoirs, especially in densely populated locations. For a city like Tehran with a population of 12 Millions and a daily waste production of 7.500 Mg, this creates a critical situation. The household wastes consist of aqueous, hard to aerate fruit and vegetable residues (70%). This waste already produces highly polluted leachate at the time of delivery, which penetrates the unprepared subsoil and directly pollutes the ground water. For the introduction of this new method two local aspects had to be integrated and taken into account; high outdoor temperatures and the ban of water usage during the waste treatment. As a consequence some changes in the heap construction and optimizations at the aeration system were necessary. As an innovation, sieved and stabilized waste was used as input material. After construction of the heaps on an unsealed area, in the aerated decomposing material a leachate circle develops, in which the surplus water evaporates. This phenomenon is the distinctive feature in this procedure. Contrary to present procedures currently been used, it is also possible, without capillary rise and against the direction of diffusion and activated only through aeration to get the leachate stored in the dry stable layer under the fresh wastes into the warmer and upper fresh waste fraction. The fine compost which covers as a bio-filter the fresh waste fraction is used as a condenser. The stable material after the decomposition process can be divided into homogenous and urgently needed fractions. |
