Wastewater is a kind of water resource which can supply water steadily and reliably. It is objectively urgent to reuse wastewater as ecological water in western and districts where water shortage problem is severe. So it has both scientific and practical significance to do research work on wastewater reuse as ecological water to ensure the ecological water utilized in arid, non-oasis districts, especially in the area which possess important ecological functions. This paper discusses the a few factors restricting wastewater reused as ecological water to continent in western and district of China, which include (1) wastewater has not been brought into the category of ecological water for and land; (2) there is no standards of wastewater discharged to and land and standards of ecological water quality for and land; (3) there is no priority executing regulations between wastewater discharge standards and wastewater reuse standards when wastewater is utilized. Therefore, the work must be done as soon as possible to solve above problems so as to fundamentally alleviate water shortage in western and land and make full use of wastewater resources for ecological construction.
