The ecological environment in areas of the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River has shown a deteriorative tendency for a long period of time in the following aspects: severely destroyed vegetative cover, quickening speed of desertification, deficient water resources, deteriorated water quality, and etc. The deteriorative state of the ecological environment in areas of the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River not only affects the local development of economy, but results in inestimable: social economic loss of the whole country as well. In view of this, we should take a right attitude towards the ecological environment of the upper and middle reaches both in guiding ideology and practical performance, to guarantee a radical change of the ecological environment in the upper and middle reaches of the river.
