Apsheron agglomeration including the Baku metropolitan area, is located in a coastal zone of the Caspian sea in the old oil-extracting area of the world and differs of a dry climate. About 200 lakes the common area 50 km(2) are in key hydrological units with usual ecosystem. The field investigations and interpretation of the monitoring data have allowed to make an essential conclusion that economic influence to a natural regime of the Apsheron lakes dominates above influence of a climate, which changes are connected to Caspian sea rising. The definition of major factors influencing on lake ecosystem has allowed to optimise the lake stage regime and to ensure stabilisation of a water level within the limits of the given range of level change.
