英文摘要 | Most of new reclaimed calcareous soils are scattered in desert areas of the western part. A few years ago, a quite number of big public company as well as private cultivation activities were started to utilize these lands. A miss-use of irrigation management raise up serious problems such as rising the watertable and introduce salinity hazard. This study aims to evaluate the drainage system performance and its effect on the soil properties in Nubaria Seed Production. Tile drainage system was installed at 60 m spacing and 1.4 m depth. The obtained results indicated that in spite of the actual differences in soil drainage conditions, the morphological characteristics of the studied soil profiles were nearly similar. Ln spit of tile drainage system served in the area, some spots are still suffering from high water table and soil salinity. This could be rendered to the effect of high content of secondary calcium carbonates as a cementing matter forming an impermeable layer which reduces the movement rate of water towards tile drains. in general tile drainage system improves the water movement and solute transports in surrounding area of the tile drains. As they changed from poorly to well drained area as well as lowering the water table levels in the most investigated soils. |
