| 英文摘要 | The construction and operation of a coal-fired power plant and associated support facilities (mines, roads, towns, tracks) present a significant impact on the natural and man-made ecosystems in the surrounding area. The major sources of impact are changes in the land area available for agriculture, changes in crops cultivated in the remaining area, and the effects of stack effluents on plant growth and production. This paper describes a potentially useful means of estimating agricultural production on a county-by-county basis, and reviews some pertinent literature on the effect of SO/sub 2/ and other pollutants on plant growth and production. Applications in a regional assessment program in the Pacific Northwest are reported. |
