| 英文摘要 | This work validates the use of these medicinal plants in treatment of sexually transmitted vi infections (STIs). Phytochemicals detected may well explain the biological activity reported. Thirteen traditional healers were interviewed using a structured questionnaire on the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of sexually transmitted infections within Blouberg area, Limpopo Province- South Africa. Eleven medicinal plants from eight families have been documented and sixty-two plant extracts were prepared and tested for antibacterial activity against 23 human pathogenic bacterial strains using disc diffusion method. A dissertation submitted in fulfilment of the requirement for the Degree of Masters of Science in the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science and Agriculture, at the University of Zululand, South Africa, 2013. |
