| 英文摘要 | Although it may seem that displaced peoples’ return to their homeland could solve the traumatic consequences of displacement, the performance of rituals might offer a more effective alternative capable of assuaging displacement through the embodiment of poetic images connected to home rather than the actual return. Rituals can create a powerful and satisfying “place of memory” as a substitute for the homeland of origin. In pursuit of this thesis, I have investigated the rituals of Cuban and Cuban-American exiles in South Florida, because it is an idea that has been insufficiently studied as a possible intervention tool for use by exiles to assist them in coping with separation from their country of birth. Because I have performed aesthetic rituals in a performance as practice framework as a way to deal with my own displacement, and because of detailed research about how other exiles have used performance rituals to ameliorate their own trauma, these scholarly activities have turned what may seem an intuitive impulse into a viable methodology. With this methodology, Cuban exiles not affiliated with established exilic performance rituals will be able to create their own performance rituals to transform forced dislocation into a practice for incorporating into their new hosting communities. The liminal circumstances which norm the exiles’ social drama generate a need for rites of passages which are characterized by liminal culturally coded patterns of behavior. Performed within the Cuban enclave, these special behaviors provide situated knowledges and textualities along with partial perspectives useful in communicating a legitimate syncretic methodology for assuaging displacement back to the community from which they come. |
