英文摘要On the definition of the western arid areas, the paper uses ways of coordinate location and the field survey to select the agricultural field observation scientific test stations in to the western arid areas of China, and expounds the functional orientation, connotation and subject classification of the agricultural field observation scientific test stations in the western arid areas. Through the preliminary investigation analysis of the domanial distribution of the field scientific observations in western arid areas, field observation and the situation of the basic data accumulation, the structure of observers, infrastructure and condition platform, scientific research projects selection, research findings and personnel training, the paper draw a conclusion that the subject classification of the agricultural field observation scientific test stations in the western arid areas mainly are farmland ecological system field observation scientific test stations, up to 44% of all stations. Compared with department field stations and scientific research field stations, the number of scientific research personnel in national field stations is much larger. Personnel with doctor degree and with master degree increased 180% and 60% respectively. The percentage of doctor master and undergraduate changed from 1:1:2 in 2006 to 14:8:15 in 2010. The education background of scientific research personnel of the field stations in the western arid areas continued to increase. The scale of experimental observation area and living area of the agricultural field observation scientific test stations continued to increase too. The scale of experimental observation area and living area increase from 98.87 hm~2 to 233.33 hm~2 since "7th Five - Year Plan" to 2010, increase almost 150%. The scale of experimental observation area increased from 88.87 hm~2 to 222 hm~2, increase almost 150%. The number of paper published by the agricultural field observation scientific test stations increase largely every year from "7th Five-Year Plan" to "11th Five-Year Plan". At the same time, the problems appear. The number of paper published in core journal is large and increase largely. Although the number of paper published in SCI, EI and ISTP increase, the increase rate is low. The number differs largely from those in core journal. Although the agricultural field observation scientific test stations in the western arid areas of country take a great progress in all aspects, but there are still some problems such as the lack of coordination of the planning and management of the field stations, low intensity of the investment of construction and operation of the field stations, and a general lack of stable funding support. In view of the above questions, this paper gives recommendations from the four aspects as follows: (1) Aim at promoting original technological innovation ability, strengthen the overall planning and foresight layout. (2) Impel field technology resource sharing, form field scientific investigation and networking observation system. (3) Increase and stabilize the funds input, improve the field technological support and guarantee condition. (4) Innovate evaluation system, stabilize and improve high level、specialization field observation stations group.
