英文摘要 | The present study deals with the role of sedimentary processes in the lake of Schirmacher Oasis (SO), East Antarctica and their periodicities to understand the forcing mechanism responsible for the regional climate variations. We analyzed various sedimentary parameters viz, sand, silt, clay, roundness and biogenic silica (BSi) from lake L-51. The proxy record reports the occurrence of increased freshwater runoff around 14.7-12.2 ka,.in the lake followed by Holocene climate optimum around 11.2-10 ka and 9.4-8.4 ka. The SO records the ice sheet retreat during mentioned periods. The spectral analysis of the sedimentological parameters reveals the significant periodicities (> 95% significance) centering at similar to 1067, similar to 907, and similar to 824 years. The long-term trends in the data suggest the possible fluctuation of Antarctic ice-sheet superimposed on global climatic fluctuations due to solar activity. |
