中文摘要	介绍了宁夏中部干旱带的自然与社会发展状况,分析了在该地区发展药材生产及产业化开发的优势及可能对生态环境造成的影响,阐述了在该地区进行中药材种植的试验结果,对该区药材资源开发、生态环境保护、野生药材保护的措施及发展中药材生产的运作方式等提出了若干具有前瞻性的观点.
英文摘要	Central Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in the marginal zone of the Mu Us Desert, and is a typical desert grassland region. The annual precipitation, evaporation, sunshine duration and frost-free period are about 220 mm, 2 300 mm, 2 800 hours and 150-180 days respectively. The soil is dominated by sierozem, the organic matter layer is very thin, and the soil is sandy and loose. Wind erosion is serious due to the leas precipitation and the frequent occurrence of strong winds and dust storms, and the ecological environment is extremely vulnerable. The diurnal-nocturnal temperature difference is high and the region is rich in sunshine, these are advantageous for the accumulation of the effective compositions of Chinese medicinal herbs. This paper introduces the natural conditions and the social development in the arid area of central Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, analyzes the predominance of developing the production and industry of Chinese medicinal herbs and their possible impacts on the ecological environment, and discusses the experimental results of growing some Chinese medicinal herbs. Some measures are put forward for developing the production of Chinese medicinal herbs, conserving the ecological environment and protecting the wild Chinese medicinal herbs.
