英文摘要 | A study was conducted during 2007-08 to evaluate 8 varieties/hybrids of table tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L. Mill. nom. cons) under 3 different greenhouse structures (polycarbonate, polyench and trench), in the cold and desert of trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh. The pooled data of 2 years revealed that polycarbonate greenhouse produced maximum fruit yield (4.05 kg/plant) and was significantly superior over polyench (2.88 kg/plant) and trench (2.20 kg/plant). ’Tolstoi’ recorded significantly higher yield (5.99 kg/plant), LAI (4.77) and average fruit weight (82.9 g) over the other varieties. The maximum number of fruits/plant (129.7) and number of fruit/truss (10.8) were observed with ’Cherry’ type however, it yielded lowest (0.96 kg/plant) because of minimum average fruit weight (7.9 g). Maximum lycopene content was recorded in ’Pusa Ruby’ (8.7 mg/100 g) which is highest value reported so far from India. The interaction effect between the greenhouse structures and varieties was found significant. All the hybrids/varieties (indeterminate, semi-indeterminate and determinates) performed better under polycarbonate greenhouse and was found significantly superior over polyench and trench structures. Further evaluation revealed that indeterminate varieties (’NSX 6868’, ’Tolstoi’, ’Pusa Ruby’, ’Pusa Uphar’ and ’NSX 99’) yielded better under polyench as compared to trench, whereas the performance of semi-indeterminate (’Cherry’ and ’Punjab Chhuhara’) and determinate (’shalimar’) varieties were at par under polyench and trench. Therefore, to exploit maximum yield potential of different table purpose varieties/hybrids, polycarbonate greenhouse structure was found superior and overall performance of ’Tolstoi’ hybrid was judged best for all types of greenhouses under cold and high altitude conditions of trans-Himalayas. |
