英文摘要 | A field experiment was carried out during 2004-05 and 2005-06 at University Research Farm, Dhakrani, Dehradun to judge the productivity, profitability and sustainability of different wheat-based cropping sequences. Among the 8 cropping sequences, pigeonpea-wheat gave highest wheat equivalent yield, gross return, net return and benefit: cost ratio (8 995 kg/ha, Rs 70 910, Rs 48 250/ha/year and 3.13 respectively), followed by groundnut-wheat and blackgram-wheat. Wheat grain equivalent yield recorded under pigeonpea-wheat was significantly higher than all other sequences except groundnut-wheat. Similarly these cropping sequences also resulted in higher production and monetary efficiency with a net profit over maize-wheat cropping sequences. Residual soil fertility and organic carbon content also increased significantly due to various cropping sequences. Thus in semi-arid region of Uttarakhand, pigeonpea-wheat and groundnut-wheat cropping sequence proved most promising and remunerative as they gave more yields, net return, benefit: cost ratio and production and monetary efficiencies. |
