Eco-physiology of Evolvulus alsinoides (L.) from Indian Thar desert

Eco-physiology of Evolvulus alsinoides (Shankhpushpi) in terms of leaf pigments, chlorophyll stability index, crude protein, sugar, proline and osmotic potential has been studied. Results reveal that maximum values of above measurements except for osmotic potential were observed during flowering phase followed by vegetative and minimum during seedling stage. Proline was maximum during flowering phase with minimum osmotic potential and vice versa. This is due to osmoregulation during stress conditions.
