Wind erosion poses a serious threat to the socioeconomic well-being of residents in the Sahel region of Niger. Farmers within the Sahel are aware of the environmental degradation associated with soil erosion and are concerned about the long-term productivity of aland resources. Land operators in the Sahel provided researchers with information about how damage from wind erosion can be reduced. Findings strongly suggest that public conservation policies will have to be enacted to protect future agricultural productivity in the region.
