During major regressions in the Early-Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous, the northern Arabian plate, which was traditionally referred to the province with a hot arid or variably humid climate, featured eases with hot humid climates as is evident from Lithologic and palynologic data According to the palinspastic reconstructions, these areas of hot humid land were located at that time in the near-equatorial regions of the earth. Therefore, their appearance suggests that the ancient equatorial belt was eventually formed in the Late Cretaceous from separate humid eases, which existed along the northern periphery of the African-Arabian land as early as the Jurassic-Early Cretaceous.
