Patterns of diversity of anurans, lizards, and snakes at different taxonomic levels are given for the Asian ecological transect. This transect crosses the Asia Continent from Taimyr Peninsula in the North to the southern end of Indostan Subcontinent involving territories of seven countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Mongolia, China, Nepal and India). The abundance of all taxa increases towards the South, but decreases in the Tibet plateau. There are some differences in distribution patterns of various groups. Anurans depend on humidity to a greater extent than reptiles, so they have lower species abundance in the arid part of Central India than at slopes and foothill area of the Himalayas. Accordingly, reptiles have a maximum number of families in the southern India and anurans in Nepal.
