1. Because the effect of wind is to increase convective heat transfer, standard operative temperature, T(es), will always be less than operative temperature, T(e), when T(e) is less than body temperature, T(b). If T(e) is greater than T(b), then T(es) will always exceed T(e).


2. Standard operative temperature data in a paper by Goodfriend, Ward and Subach [J. therm. Biol. 16, 157-166 (1991)] are suspect because T(es) values presented exceed the values of T(e) used to compute T(es), even though T(e) is well below T(b).
