英文简介Model prediction and observation records show that the frequency and intensity of the extreme weather events (such as drought, heavy rainfall and high temperature) has an increasing trend in the future. The studies of the impact of extreme weather events on terrestrial ecosystems, especially drought, become the current hot spots. The highly sensitive nature of the Tibetan Plateau on Climate Change and the unique climate characteristics makes it one of the best research objects. Therefore, the project intends to mimic extreme drought event by using rainfall shelter in order to investigate the drought impacts on alpine meadow. After the drought event, we separate the sample plots into two groups and apply two different precipitations in order to explore the relationship between the rainfall and recovery rate. At the same time, the observed data will be used to optimize and validate the grassland ecosystem model (PaSim). As a consequence, the observed data of this project will be contributed to the database of the global terrestrial ecosystem response to extreme climate event. The optimized and validated PaSim model could be used to simulate the impact of drought on alpine meadow and simulate the recovery processes under different climate scenarios when more observational data are available in the future.
